When the summer vacation begins, it puts me more in the mood for parties with friends and family, and quiet nights with my husband. There’s nothing better than an ice-cold refreshing cocktail to make the most of those balmy summer nights.
I always have strawberries on hand (even in the winter), so I wanted to find a recipe for cocktails using strawberries.  I didn’t find one that ticked all my boxes so I decided to devise my own strawberry vodka cocktail.
This strawberry vodka cocktail is just the right amount of sweetness with just the right amount of kick. Another fantastic cocktail for a summer gathering is my Peach Bellini Cocktail. With these recipes, you are sure to wow your summer party guests!
Why This Recipe Works
- Adding cranberry juice to the strawberry cocktail cuts the sweetness of the strawberries making a truly refreshing cocktail.
- The lemonade adds a zingy tang.
- The amount of vodka you mix with the schnapps, liquor, and juice means you can tailor it to your own needs.
Buying Strawberries

It’s always better to buy strawberries in season, and locally if possible. However, you can use strawberries from the supermarket. Try to choose strawberries that are firm, vivid red, and free of bruising and mold, or discoloration. This will ensure they are the juiciest and tastiest they can be.
How To Make Strawberry Vodka Cocktail
- Mix all the ingredients in a large pitcher.
- Refrigerate until chilled.
- Pour over ice.
- Serve with a strawberry and enjoy!.

Tips & Variations
- For a bit of a fizz, use lemon-lime soda in place of the lemonade. This should be added last for maximum fizz factor!Â
- If you like your drinks less sweet, try using unsweetened lemonade.
- If you don’t like vodka you can use gin or white rum instead. Experimentation is fun!
- If you can’t find a strawberry liquor you can make a strawberry syrup instead. The method can be found here in my Fresh Strawberry Cupcakes with Whipped Cream Frosting recipe.

FAQs
With a knife cut a slit in a firm, ripe strawberry (one with a bright green top) make sure the slit is almost half of the way from the point. Fan out and place on the rim of a glass.
