The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) successfully located and saved a missing five-year-old with Autism who had wandered into a swamp

Promptly responding to the distress call, deputies from the HCSO’s Aviation Unit collaborated with ground forces to navigate the challenging terrain and swiftly locate the young girl in Tampa. The child, who had wandered into a swamp, faced potential dangers, making the rescue mission urgent and critical.


Within an impressive timeframe of under an hour, deputies located the child unharmed and facilitated her safe return.


“Their quick action saved the day, turning potential tragedy into a hopeful reunion,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “Their dedication shows what service and protection are all about here at the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.”
